TheThTheCoconut fibre or coir fibre, is a natural fibre extracted from the outer husk of coconut. Coir is the fibrous material found between the hard, internal shell and the outer coat of a coconut and used in products such as floor mats, doormats, brushes and mattresses.
Coconut fiber has a high lignin content and thus a low cellulose content, as a result of which it is resilient, strong and highly durable. The remarkable lightness of the fibers is due to the cavities arising from the dried out sieve cells.
The best grade coco fiber are light in color, gold-yellow (fiber from unripe coconuts) or brown (fiber from ripe coconuts).
Other uses of brown coir (made from ripe coconut) are in upholstery padding, sacking and horticulture. White coir, harvested from unripe coconuts, is used for making finer brushes, string, rope and fishing nets.

What is coconut fiber made of?
When we extract the coconut husk material, we get three things: cocofiber, cocopeat, and coconut chips. The cocofiber is the straw-like part of the coconut husk. In this article, we’ll explain what a cocofiber product is and what it can do for you. You can read our article for more information.
How do you use coconut fiber for planting?
If you’re planting seeds, the first step is to prepare coco fiber in a pot. For germinating seeds, this product holds water well and manages it in the same way that peat or vermiculite does. Second, fill a pot with 1 inch of soil and a soil-keep growing media that will drain effectively while retaining appropriate moisture. Coconut fiber serves this purpose. After that, place your plant in the pot as bare as possible on the root reception. After you’ve finished prepping the roots, wrap a layer of coco fiber around them. The outcome will be determine by the type of plant you are growing. You can read our article for more information.
Is coconut fiber good for plant?
Coconut fiber is the least absorbent of all the coconut husk products, yet it can still hold a lot of water compared to regular soil. It softly releases water, keeping your plants hydrated without soaking them and causing root rot. This growing medium is also anti-fungal and anti-disease, so you won’t have to worry about your plants, especially if you’re new to farming. Coconut fiber includes potassium and phosphorus, which aid plant growth even in paltry amounts. You can read our article for more information.
Is coco coir the same as coco fiber?
Indonesia encourages the Ministry of Industry to increase the number of machinery and equipment used in the coconut coir processing industry. Coconut grows abundantly along coastlines, which benefits Indonesia, which has a rather lengthy coastline. It’s a response to the increased demand for coconut coir products like cocofiber and cocopeat for raw materials like spring beds, mattresses, automobile seats, ropes, and carpets on the international market. This product can also be used in planting media like hydroponic farming and animal bedding. You can read our article for more information.
